What to check and why

Wide and high enough doors and aisles (frightening, causing injuries)

Window bars (injuries)

No loose parts, nails or sharp edges (injuries)

No openings wide enough to put any size of hoof or nose in (getting stuck, injuries, even bone fractures)

Correctly working doors (injuries, loose horses)

The floor (non-slip, strong)  

Correctly fastened feed and water bowls and possible hay nets (injuries)

Poisonous plants (poisoning, death)

Safe and correct fences without loose parts or barbed wire (injuries, loose horses)

Strong, correctly working gates (injuries, loose horses)

Electricity in electric fence (loose horses)
